How refreshing to finally find someone who tells the truth! I've given a small pool a 2 year opportunity to convince me it's worth it, and for me it isn't. (Came with the house I bought.) I'm ready to dump dirt in it and forget it....Thanks for your candidness. I've just turned into a "senior citizen" and can't afford the $100. a month it's costing me, and that's with me doing most of the work (vacuums, motors, chemicals etc.) Thanks again.

Thank you for responding and so quickly, and don't laugh too hard now but actually it is only inches so it is about 10 foot by 2 foot it is for our grandson and we have guessed around 600 gallons? We are hauling the water in right now because we live in the country and we're on a shallow well. Many thanks for the prompt reply, Armand. I'll give it a shot. I had hosed down the old filter cartridge, following the skimpy instructions that we'd inherited with the pool gear info when we bought the house, but didn't think to try the extra washing steps. You're right, I didn't watch the pool tech clean the cartridge the last time he was at the house, but he'd left parting advice about using a good adjustable multi-spray nozzle, so I figured a hose-down, fold by fold, was enough. ... I appreciate your help in advancing my pool-ological education. Thanks again,

Dear Albert, I just had to write you to say thank you for your advice on the reasons for not having a pool. My husband and I were considering buying a house with a beautiful pool and the current owner was trying to assure us that the pools of today are not like the ones of yesterday with the daily maintenance and expense. You confirmed every hesitation I had of why we did not need a house with a pool. Number one the expense and number 2 we are definitely over the age of 18 and our kid will be leaving to go to college in a year. Thank you....you are a genius!
